With over 18 years of progressive experience, Deborah is a seasoned professional who partners with mission-driven organizations to better serve and support their clients and causes. Deborah has specialized in several sectors including higher education, mental health, and healthcare. Deborah is passionate about connecting people through the written word and the power of effective storytelling to transform lives.
Deborah’s nonprofit experience started as a mental health worker at Heartland Health Outreach, in Chicago, Illinois, serving people who had a history of homelessness, mental health conditions, and substance misuse. With her team, she helped her clients keep their housing and their health while assisting them in rebuilding their lives. As a project manager at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, she supported researchers in providing mental health outcomes for the State of Illinois’ child welfare programs.
Deborah began her grant writing career working with a variety of newly minted nonprofit organizations as well as larger, experienced organizations with finding necessary funding via grant proposals (both governmental and foundational), funder research, strategic planning, and developing corporate sponsorships. Over the years, Deborah has helped both for-profit and nonprofit organizations large and small tell their stories to the world so that they can be uniquely seen and valued by potential clients and funders.

Deborah has a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, specializing in creative nonfiction, from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Chicago. Deborah lives in Seattle, Washington, and enjoys the beauty of the Puget Sound through nature walks, hiking, and nature photography.
